Oil in the Sea:
The Deepwater Horizon Disaster

Introduction

On April 20, 2024, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, operated by BP and located in the Gulf of Mexico near the Mississippi River Delta, experienced an explosion killing 11 workers, and injuring 17 others. At the time of the explosion, the rig was drilling at a depth of 5,000 feet below the surface of the Gulf. The explosion was caused by a wellhead blowout, and unleashed the biggest off-shore oil leak in the history of the U.S.

Other U.S. oil spills include Lakeview Gusher (1910, Kern County, California), Exxon Valdez (1989, Prince William Sound, Alaska), and Prudhoe Bay (2006, Alaska). To date, the on-land Lakeview Gusher has been the largest spill. The Deepwater Horizon spill is a close second, but given that it happened at sea, it may have more devastating ecological and economical repercussions.

Oil spills occur all around the world. Since the first of the year, there have been spills in China, Australia, Nigeria, Singapore and several in the U.S. As of the writing of this article, there are spills in China (Yellow Sea) and Egypt (Red Sea), as well as four spills in the U.S. (three in the Gulf of Mexico and one in Michigan).

While we are not claiming that the Deepwater Horizon event is something prophetic or Scriptural, in light of this event, it is haunting to read the passages in Revelation 8:8-9, as John describes the events following the second trumpet blast:
The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. (NIV)

Remembering that John was writing toward the end of the first century A.D., it is not a stretch to imagine an event like the explosion and collapse of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig appearing to him as "something like a huge mountain, all ablaze" being "thrown into the sea," and the "sea" looking like "blood", as the oil kills wildlife and washes onto land.

We have just begun searching the codes regarding this disaster, and we will be doing additional research, to be published at a later date.

Nathan Jacobi, Ph.D., parsed and translated the codes.

Oil in the Sea (A)

The first spelling of the first search term, Oil in the Sea (A), resulted in a 60% return rate, with codes ranging in length from 14 to 50 letters long.

Oil in the Sea (A.1)
Let the monument of the sea
give birth here to sickness.
Let the oil in the sea please be the Lord's law,
and let the sea raise soft heretics!

Let the monument of the sea give birth here to sickness may express concerns regarding potential illness from exposure to the oil either directly or indirectly though air, water, food, land and animals.

Oil in the Sea (A.2)
The enemy came, and the mountain was lost.
Enough with the bitter permit to the moving oil in the sea,
by whom they were finished, and let the hook in it instruct that
the gentile of the sea is yours, God!

The mountain might be symbolic of land or an oil rig. The enemy came, and the mountain was lost. Enough with the bitter permit to the moving oil in the sea might mean that land was lost because of an enemy, and that the permission to move or drill for oil comes to an end because of it.

The gentile of the sea might refer to any non-Jewish nation or group that makes its livelihood from the ocean, either through fishing or drilling for oil.

This is the longest code of the group at 50 letters long.

Oil in the Sea (A.4)
The shooting described a bag coming upon
oil in the sea, with a turtle from above.

This code may describe an effort to clean-up or contain the oil spill, while protecting wildlife.

Oil in the Sea (A.7)
Who is against? What is in the cell?
Is there oil in the sea?

These questions seem to echo the questions surrounding the spill and how best to fix a situation of such extraordinary circumstances.

Oil in the Sea (A.8)
There is oil in the sea,
and he had plenty of abundance,
but he hurried . . .

This code may be a reflection on BP. They have made a great deal of money over the years from drilling for and selling petroleum. It raises the question, did they hurry this operation in any way that led to the accident?

Oil in the Sea (A.10)
It appears as guilt of oil in the sea.

In particular, Americans are torn between their use of and dependence on oil, and their desire to be environmentally friendly. It appears as guilt of oil in the sea may describe that type of guilt or battle within each of us, and the oil in the sea may represent our collective guilt made public.

Oil in the Sea (B)

For the second spelling of Oil in the Sea (B), there was a smaller rate of return of 30%, with codes ranging from 12 to 29 letters long.

Oil in the Sea (B.3)
Where, oh where, is there oil in the sea?

Where, oh where, is there oil in the sea? sounds like the lament of someone who is searching for a place to drill for oil.

Oil in the Sea (B.7)
They came and died,
the oil in the sea has pardoned her character.

One clean-up worker has died due to the spill in China.

As we mentioned in the Introduction, 11 workers were killed when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, and two deaths that were reported on June 23 are believed to be related to the spill. On the same day, a charter boat captain committed suicide. He was known to be very despondent over the spill and the resulting loss of work.

Oil in the Sea (B.8)
He was bewildered as to who they were.
It is time that the water of oil in the sea
will circle within me an axis for them.

This somewhat mysterious code may be describing a mechanism that removes the oil from the water, restoring the health of the sea.

Concluding Remarks

The codes in this article highlight the grievous nature of the oil spill, with the potential for causing illness, killing wildlife, and forcing us to face our dependence on oil and the guilt we feel because of it. In addition, the haunting similarity of this event to Revelation 8:8-9, reminds us of the fragility of life and the nearness of the End Times.
