Startling Election Codes Continue to Surface
[This article was posted to the BCD site on August 6, 2008.]
With the U.S. presidential elections nearing, we decided to examine ELSs with the next five shortest skips for each of the searches of the presumptive nominees' names that were previously presented in the March/April 2008 Digest election codes article. Some of the names did not have any more findings to examine for extensions, but four of the names did. In this article, we present the additional results for McCain, J. McCain, and two different spellings of B. Obama. Nathan Jacobi, Ph.D., parsed and translated the findings.
As always, we admonish our readers to keep in mind that there may be many people named McCain, J. McCain, and B. Obama, so that the findings here may refer to other people by those names. In addition, by presenting these codes BCD is neither endorsing the use of codes for predicting the future, nor endorsing either of the candidates.
A link to the complete table of McCain and Obama findings from this and the prior elections article will be presented at the end of this article
Four of the 10 additional searches resulted in extensions for McCain and J. McCain, and two of those findings are quite surprising.
Change? No! Woe, they are a gift and an obligation
to the father from God to McCain.
This beginning of this code sounds like a direct rebuttal to Obama's "Change We Can Believe In" slogan. One could imagine the McCain campaign shouting back, "Change? No!"
Somewhat surprising is the spiritual tone of the code, as McCain is having to work at building a base in the evangelical community.
Further, in the context of the upcoming elections, God giving a gift and an obligation to McCain could be construed as the gift and obligation of the presidency, or it could refer to the obligation of having suffered as a POW and the resulting responsibilities of representing our country during and after his release.
In addition, Jacobi notes that the vocabulary and grammar in the Hebrew of this code are perfect, as opposed to being just good or acceptable.
He replied to you: who and where is his witness, McCain?
This mysterious code implies more questions than it answers. Who is speaking? Who is the witness? And why is the location of the witness important?
J. McCain (1.8)
J. McCain is mediating for him.
Again, we have a somewhat mysterious code. It portrays J. McCain as mediator. Certainly as president, mediation would be an element of his job. However, it raises the question, who is the him in the code, and why is McCain mediating for him?
J. McCain (1.10)
J. McCain's prison has elevated him.
In our previous article on election codes, J. McCain (1.2) had language in it that may allude to McCain's time as a POW. Although most Americans know that McCain was a POW, few realize how long and cruel his imprisonment was. McCain was a POW for over five years, during and after which he was one of the most famous POWs in the history of the 20th century.
In this code, we find the word prison used directly. Certainly, his imprisonment has elevated him or has given him a prominent status and reputation in our society. For more information on McCain's time as a POW, see Wikipedia.
In our continuing search for Obama codes, two different spellings of B. Obama provided more ELSs. Of the 10 B. Obama codes, six resulted in extensions.
B. Obama (1.6)
Where has the son strayed? He has the wine from the mother.
He will thank me, will carry father Obama so much obliged.
The first part of this code could be referring to Obama's mother, Ann Dunham. Obama wrote in his memoir Dreams from My Father, "I know that she was the kindest, most generous spirit I have ever known, and that what is best in me I owe to her." He has the wine from the mother could refer to all of the good things that he feels she instilled in him.
The last part of the code may refer to Obama's father. Obama's father left him and his mother to attend Harvard, when Obama was two years old. Their marriage dissolved shortly thereafter. Much controversy surrounds Obama's father. There are questions surrounding his religious beliefs (Christianity, Islam and atheism), his marriages (questions of polygamy), his behavior (alleged abuse toward his wives), and his drinking habits. Will carry the father Obama so much obliged could refer to carrying the memory of his father, and the obligation Obama feels to overcome his father's dubious legacy. (See Wikipedia, Chicago Sun-Times, and Daily Mail UK.)
B. Obama (1.8)
And where did that one dwell?
And B. Obama, the brother who toured?
If we suppose that the first part of the code is asking where Obama has lived, according to Wikipedia we find that he has lived in several major cities in the U.S. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he has also lived in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. In addition, as a child he lived in Indonesia for four years.
The last part of the code could be referring to his travels. He has traveled in Europe and also to Kenya, where he met some of his father's relatives, as well as his extensive travels in the U.S. during his campaign for the presidency.
B. Obama (1.9)
And the being of B. Obama – the Lord is backing them,
raise in me the eye of the living, the friend of his fishing rod.
The first half of this code has a distinctly religious tone, but the singular attribute of the being and plural them render this portion of the code ambiguous. The second half of the code could be viewed as a comment on his campaign where the eye of the living refers to the audience he is trying to reach, and his fishing rod, which is an odd phrase, especially given that it is generally known that Obama is not a fisherman, could imply that he is fishing for votes or financial support. Is so, the friend of his fishing rod would refer to his supporters (i.e., voters and financial supporters).
B. Obama (2.8)
He will illuminate their expectation from a state of chaos.
With whom is he exploring, and was Obama the father charged?
If the he is Obama, perhaps he will illuminate their expectation from a state of chaos could be saying that Obama is attempting to shine a light on people's hopes during a time of social, financial and political upheaval in our country. If exploring is used in the sense of exploring options, then with whom is he exploring could reference his advisors.
Was Obama the father charged? may refer to the accusations that because Obama's father converted from Christianity to Islam, that this may have influenced Barack Obama's religious views. Obama's father is a larger-than-life figure in his life, though his father's failures may haunt Barack Obama and contribute to his drive to succeed.
B. Obama (2.9)
B. Obama was enlightened to provide advice,
the exalted one will be compensated,
and from his might will emanate a flute.
The first phrase of the code could refer to Obama's education and preparation for the role of president. Regarding the second phrase, it would be quite a stretch to refer to any presidential candidate as the exalted one. However, Obama has been dubbed "the one" in the media (see CNN and The New York Times).
At first, we thought the last phrase, and from his might will emanate a flute, trailed off into baffling, albeit poetic, imagery, but then, we Googled "Obama flute" and discovered several references that may help our understanding of this code.
After looking up these references, we came away with the image of Obama's rhetoric acting upon his audiences like the music from the flute of the Pied Piper, which is actually not a very flattering reference. Here is an excerpt from the plot synopsis of the fable The Pied Piper of Hamelin from Wikipedia.
In 1284, while the town of Hamelin was suffering from a rat infestation, a man dressed in colourful garments appeared, claiming to be a rat-catcher. He promised the townsmen a solution for their problem with the rats. The townsmen in turn promised to pay him for the removal of the rats. The man accepted, and thus played a musical pipe to lure the rats with a song into the Weser River, where all of them drowned. Despite his success, the people reneged on their promise and refused to pay the rat-catcher. The man left the town angrily, but returned some time later, seeking revenge.
While the inhabitants were in church, he played his pipe again, this time attracting the children of Hamelin. One hundred and thirty boys and girls followed him out of the town, where they were lured into a cave and never seen again. Depending on the version, at most two children remained behind (one of whom was lame and could not follow quickly enough, the other one was deaf and followed the other children out of curiosity) who informed the villagers of what had happened when they came out of the church.
On the one hand, the idea of Obama being able to sway audiences with his charismatic rhetoric can be romaticized like that of the Pied Piper playing his flute to lure the rats out of town, but the latter part of the Pied Piper story raises questions of how will this charisma ultimately be used and what motivations lurk beneath the surface?
B. Obama (2.10)
There is in me a species foreign to him, to B. Obama.
This code raises more questions than answers. Who is speaking? What could a species foreign to him mean? What point of view is being represented in this code?
The high percentage of extensions found (50%) of the initial search terms presented in this article is noteworthy, and the language in several of the codes is particularly compelling in light of the lives and campaigns of both of the candidates. Taken in conjunction with the previously presented findings, the results are even greater (55%).
