A Bottom Line Message
from the Codes

The Second Benefit of Studying
the Bible: Wisdom

The reality of the phenomenon of Bible codes underscores the divine origin of the Bible — a book that differs radically from modern culture in almost every possible way. Because the Bible is so different, it is important that the validity of the Bible can be testified to in a wide variety of ways. That is one of the most important purposes of Bible codes.

To give you an idea of how opposite Biblical and contemporary values are, the following table provides 28 contrasts between some of the prevalent notions in our culture and what the book of Proverbs says about them.

We've just looked at 28 ways that the perspective of the Bible is radically different than what our culture today would have us believe. God authored the Bible to help us live fulfilling lives — by sparing us from the destructiveness of our society's values.

So, how should we react to all of this? Solomon, the wisest man of his time, had these words of advice:

My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you. — Proverbs 2:1-11 (NKJV)

A Prayer for Wisdom

Heavenly Father, we are easily swayed by our culture, especially with the constant bombardment of the media. Open our eyes to see and understand the wisdom in your Word. May we delight in it, embrace it and apply it in our lives.
