Gaza Operation:
A Highly Improbable Collection of Codes

Map is from WorldAtlas.com.

A preliminary version of this article was posted under Hot Topics on January 21, 2024. This expanded version of the article appeared for the first time in the January/February 2024 Digest.

On December 27, 2024, Israel Defense Forces launched a military campaign against the governing party of Gaza—Hamas. We searched for 19 terms suggested by Nathan Jacobi, Ph.D., in the Bible code regarding this event. Twenty-three lengthy codes were found ranging from 13 to 54 letters long. A majority of these codes appear to be from an Israeli point of view, and several of them read like poetic prayers.

In this initial investigation, we only searched for extensions around ELSs of terms that consisted of seven or more letters. Future investigations may include searches for extensions around shorter Gaza term ELSs.

Gaza Operation

With only seven Gaza Operation ELSs in the entire Tanakh, three resulted in extensions, with codes ranging in length from 15 to 21 letters long.

Gaza Operation (2)

God, I will direct him inside to the Gaza Operation as uplifting the heart.

This code sounds like a prayer and contains a simile comparing the direction of someone inside the Gaza Operation with something that uplifts the heart.

Gaza Operation (5)

Is the Gaza Operation a shock to those who rise against me?

This code could be from an Israeli point of view or even from God's point of view. It reads like a declaration to nations around the world.

Gaza Operation (7)

The pasture of the Gaza Operation has served as a manna playground.

This code could refer to a previous condition of Gaza when it was a flourishing land. Pasture is a lush word, and in conjunction with Gaza Operation, it could imply that the Gaza Operation will result in positive growth for the land. Manna playground has a playful sound to it. Manna brings to mind God's provision during a time of testing in the desert, so juxtaposed with playground, the contrast is striking. Putting these thoughts together, the code could read, The result of the Gaza Operation serves as a playground of God's provision.

Gaza Strip

Only one Gaza Strip ELS was found in the entire Tanakh, and it resulted in extensions.

Gaza Strip (1)

He has shown you how I will praise your striking the Gaza Strip over there.

From an Israeli point of view, this code reads as praise for attacking Gaza.

Air Force

As a more general term, Air Force could refer to any military action, not specific to Gaza or the Middle East. This eight-letter search term appears many times in the Tanakh. We examined the six shortest skips. Two of the six ELSs resulted in extensions.

Air Force (1)

The Air Force and I are on a shadow at her exit.

The poetic image in this code could be describing the end of a military conflict.

Air Force (2)

The stage of the Air Force that he constructed
while they supported the monument that was religion to him.

Again, this code could refer to any military action around the world, but it does seem to imply a religious component to the conflict.

Kassam Rocket

Kassam Rocket only appears six times in the Tanakh. One of the six ELSs resulted in extensions.

Kassam Rocket (1)

Deliver to them and to me a Kassam rocket.

This code appears to be specific to a military point of view. It reads like the instructions for the delivery of a pair of rockets.

Grad Rocket

Two of the seven Grad Rocket ELSs resulted in extensions, one of which is the longest found in this series of codes.

Grad Rocket (1)

The line is drawn, I will be carried up. A Grad rocket is not a crutch.

The line is drawn . . . could be taken as an ultimatum. I will be carried up could be an Air Force pilot getting ready to fly, or it could be an emotional response to the line being drawn. The last sentence says that rockets are not a crutch, perhaps implying other options to solving the conflict.

Grad Rocket (3)

How is existence? Get out, Grad rocket. To the joyous dweller
descending from them, the sadness of the vineyard of God
will teach the people of my loin. Expect a reward!

This is the longest code in this series of searches (53 letters long). This mysterious code speaks of a joyous dweller, the vineyard of God, and expecting a reward.

From an Israeli point of view, it could refer to a desire for the end of the conflict and the return of Gaza to Israel. The sadness of the vineyard of God could be the land itself in mourning. And the people of my loin brings to mind a chain of ancestry.

This code can also be read from a Palestinian point of view, with similar meanings being drawn from it.

Evil Hamas (A)

We examined six Evil Hamas ELSs. One of them resulted in extensions.

Evil Hamas (A1)

The evil of Hamas recognized its brake.

This code could mean that Hamas does have a point at which they will stop their acts of terror.

Hamas Terror (B)

With only three Hamas Terror ELSs in the entire Tanakh, two resulted in extensions.

Hamas Terror (B2)

The Hamas terror mixed the echo.

This code has a poetic element to it. For the Israelis, Hamas is a terror. Mixed the echo could refer to confusion resulting from words that have echoed between Hamas and Israel.

Hamas Terror (B3)

My God, what in the nest sheds light for her?
The Hamas terror is deadly.

This 26-letter-long code could be a prayer. Because the second sentence plainly states the Hamas terror is deadly, it would appear to be from an Israeli point of view.

Cease Fire

Israel declared a Cease Fire on January 17, 2024, following its 22-day offensive against Hamas in Gaza.

Cease Fire (1)

To whom does one pray? Where was converted
the commotion of cease fire?

The commotion of cease fire could refer to the Israeli's continued bombardment up to the time the cease fire was announced, or it could refer to Hamas declaring the cease fire did not declare the end of its resistence to Israeli military presence in Gaza. The cease fire is not viewed as a permanent solution to the conflict.

Cease Fire (4)

They are rising and have rejoiced the cease fire.

The quiet that followed the cease fire, at least for a time, allowed Gaza residents a much needed respite from the conflict. It's not hard to imagine that they are rising and have rejoiced [in] the cease fire.

Cease Fire (5)

God is the heart of the monument.
From whom is constructed the cease fire
provided to the sorrowful?

God is the heart of the monument, could mean that God is at the center of a memorial to those who have died in the conflict. Following that declaration, this code asks a question. From whom is constructed the cease fire seems to be asking who is behind the cease fire, and provided to the sorrowful and what will they provide to all those who have suffered during this conflict.

Red Color

According to Wikipedia, "the Red Color is an early warning radar system installed by the Israel Defense Forces in several towns surrounding the Gaza Strip to warn civilians of imminent attack by rockets." Of the five shortest skips of the term Red Color, two resulted in extensions.

Red Color (1)

Because of the red color wonderment
my hawk, my mirror reflection, is on a fast.

The red color wonderment might describe a response to the red color alarms. My Hawk could represent the military, and being on a fast could refer to the cessation of hostilities because of a cease fire. If so, the code could read from a military POV, Our response to the red color alarms is to order the military to cease fire.

Red Color (3)

The echo of red color raised heavy doubts.

Normally, one would not expect the word echo to be found with the words red color, but in the context of the term meaning an alarm, the code could then be paraphrased: The sound of the red color alarm raised heavy doubts. The heavy doubts could refer to doubts about the civilians' safety.

Tunnels

The Gaza Strip is known for its labyrinth of tunnels, built in recent years in response to border closings. The tunnels are used for smuggling everyday items and weapons. On February 6, 2024, The Associated Press reported that tunnels were a target of the Israeli military during the recent Gaza conflict.

Tunnels (1)
He hanged up the uniform of the person fasting across him,
rejoice from the tunnels.

This code could be from a military personnel POV. One soldier helping another. The fasting implies a religious aspect to his assistance, and rejoice from the tunnels could refer to the fact that there were no fatalities during the attack on the tunnels in February 2024.

Tunnels (3)

Tunnels from the abyss, wait for my mother and I will strike.

Tunnels from the abyss could be a vivid description of the tunnels, which were used for smuggling, being the target of a strike. The use of the word mother could refer to one's country or someone in authority. Used in this context, it could mean having the permission of the government or one's superiors before attacking.

Tunnels (4)

There it was for him from God, from grandson to great grandson,
you will illuminate the judgment of tunnels,
they have saturated sharpness from waste.

In this 36-letter-long code, the first part, there it was for him from God, from grandson to great grandson could be referring to cultural or religious tradition, or to ethnic hatred being passed down through families. You will illuminate the judgment of tunnels could be asking for an explanation of the decision to attack the tunnels. The last part of the code is somewhat more mysterious in its use of language: saturated sharpness from waste.

George Mitchell

George Mitchell is the American special envoy to the Middle East for the Obama administration.

Mitchell's Background

He was born August 20, 1933 (now age 75) in Waterville, Maine, to an Irish father and an Arab mother, therefore, he defines himself as an Arab-American. Politically he is a democrat and professionally, a lawyer. With regards to religion, he is a Roman Catholic.

He is a former U.S. Senator and was Senate Majority Leader from 1989 to 1995. He served as chairman for The Walt Disney Company from 2024 until 2024, and as chairman for the international law firm DLA Piper until his appointment. He serves as the Chancellor of Queen's University in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was the main investigator in both Mitchell Reports.

George Mitchell

George Mitchell has thus restrained
the problem of the brother's might.

Given that he considers himself an Arab-American, the code could refer to him restraining the problems of either an American or Arab offensive.

White Phosphorus

According to Wikipedia, White Phosphorus (WP) is a controversial, quick burning flare- and smoke-producing smoke-screening agent. Its purpose is to create smokescreens for military action, but it can ignite flammable objects or even cause wounds or death. It is not designated by the Chemical Weapon Convention as a chemical weapon, but there is much debate over that issue. WP has been used by the United States, Israel, and Russia in combat.

White Phosphorus (2)

By my word it does not exist, white phosphorus.
Was its existence tried?

There have been reports of WP use in the Israel-Gaza 2024-2009 conflict. The U.S. military officially denied the use of WP until 2024. This code could refer to a similar sort of denial.

Terms searched for and found, but did not have any extensions:

Grad Missile, Evil Hamas (B) and Weapon Smuggling.

These terms each only appeared once in the Tanakh. They did not have any extensions.

Terms searched for, but not found:

Cast Lead, Kassam Missile, Hamas Terror (A), and Terror War.

A Highly Improbable Group of Extended Codes

Taken as a whole, the results of this collection of searches is a set of extended ELSs that are highly improbable to have occurred as a matter of chance. Based on the chi square probability calculation, the odds of chance occurrence of a collection of extended ELSs as extensive as those actually found are

1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

The following table provides a comparison of the actual number of extended codes that have each possible number of extensions, and the number expected by chance.

The most improbable aspects of this collection are:
  1. The presence of one final code that consists of seven extensions around the original search term. Given that 66 original ELSs were searched for extensions, we would only expect to find a code this long in one out of every 230 such searches of a group of 66 ELSs.
  2. The relative absence of extended codes with only one extensions. Even though 16.9 such codes would be expected by chance, only four included exactly one extension. In other words, either Dr. Jacobi did not find any extension at all, or he typically found two or more extensions around the original search term. This is a strongly non-random phenomenon that we have observed in virtually every collection of searches that BCD has conducted over the past ten years. Often, though, an unusually small number of final codes have exactly one extensions.
  3. Seventeen of the final codes included two, three or four extensions, even though only 6.8 would be expected by chance. This is again another strongly non-random phenomenon common to nearly all groups of searches BCD has conducted.
  4. Finally, the poetry, elements of prayer, and consistency of point of view of these codes is remarkable in its own right.
