God and Jesus in Proverbs 30:4:
Jesus Will Mend My People
BCD has previously examined codes passing through specific portions of Scripture that ask the question Who is Like God? in Isaiah 40-46 and Exodus 15, and we have posed the question, do codes provide answers to questions stated explicitly in the Bible?
In a continuing effort to examine those types of situations, we searched for God (Ehloheem), God (Yehovah), and Jesus (Yeshua) in Proverbs 30:4. In the passage, questions are asked about God and his son. Out of five codes found, two resulted in extended codes. Artwork courtesy of CarlBloch.org.
Jesus Will Mend
Proverbs 30:4, Jesus (Yeshua) (2)
Jesus will mend my people—he will turn,
and they will kneel (in prayer).
The picture of Jesus mending people, and the people kneeling and praying brings 2 Chronicles 7:14 to mind:
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (NKJV)
Furthermore, the Gospels are full of accounts of Jesus healing (mending) people. This code reads like one such example, which appears in three of the Gospel accounts: Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 8:43-48. The woman only touches the hem of His garment, and she is healed from 12 years of bleeding and illness. He asks who has touched Him and been healed. She trembles and falls at His feet as she tells Him of the healing.
Jesus also mended people's lives by forgiving them of their sins and transforming their way of life. Consider the woman at the well. Jesus confronted her about her sin, and not only forgave her sin, but redirected her way of life.
This 19-letter-long code touches down in the word heaven in the first sentence of Proverbs 30:4.
Who has gone up to heaven and come down? (NIV)
With the code touching down in heaven, does it point to the ultimate healing and mending of souls taking place in heaven?
If codes can answer questions posed in Scripture, then this code's answer is Jesus.
The Time of Turning Toward God
Proverbs 30:4, God (Yehovah) (2)
Until they indicated the time of turning toward
God (Yehovah), Naomi, and my son.
This code could be Ruth speaking about her mother-in-law Naomi. After the death of Ruth's husband, Ruth pledges to go with Naomi back to Judah and that Naomi's God will be her God.
But Ruth said:
"Entreat me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God." (Ruth 1:16, NKJV)
In turning toward God, Ruth won the appreciation of Naomi and the admiration of Boaz, a relative of her deceased husband. Boaz acts as a kinsman-redeemer and marries Ruth. In Matthew 1:5, it lists Boaz, the father of Obed by Ruth, as an ancestor of Jesus.
This 23-letter-long code touches down in the third sentence of Proverbs 30:4, in the Hebrew word for the phrase in a garment.
Who has bound the waters in a garment? (NKJV)
In Ruth 3:6-14, Ruth obeys Naomi, and through those actions finds the favor and protection of Boaz. Note the request for Boaz to spread the corner of his garment over her.
"Who are you?" he [Boaz] asked.
"I am your servant Ruth," she said. "Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a kinsman-redeemer." (Ruth 3:9, NIV)
In both Scriptures, the garment is a symbol of protection. God has bound the waters in an act of protection, and Boaz has covered Ruth with his protection. The code landing in that phrase emphasizes the protection of God as we turn toward Him.
If codes can answer questions posed in Scripture, then this code is answering God.
Context of the Location
The location of the preceding two codes is in Proverbs 30:4. Here is the complete passage, with the two locations of the codes in bold.
Who has ascended into heaven, or descended?
Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has bound the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name, and what is His Son’s name,
If you know? (Proverbs 30:4, NKJV)
Questions and Answers?
Walking through this Scripture, we find the first question is who has gone up to heaven and come down? In Acts 1:9-11, Jesus ascends into Heaven:
Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." (NKJV)
The next two questions are who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands?
Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? In Genesis 1, God created light, the heavens, the oceans, the land, vegetation, every living thing, and man.
In Matthew 8:23-27, we find that Jesus has command over the wind and waves:
Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" (NIV)
The next question is who has established all the ends of the earth? Isaiah 40:28 specifically speaks of God as the Creator of the ends of the earth:
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. (NIV)
And the last of the Scripture asks, what is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know! The codes answer Jesus will mend my people.
Concluding Remarks
These two codes are notable for several reasons.
- Each of these codes has content consistent with Scriptural themes.
- The codes echo the Scriptures they touch down in.
- They are in good Hebrew.
- They are lengthy at 19 and 23 letters long. We consider codes of eight to ten letters or more to begin to be statistically significant. These more than meet that criteria.
Lastly, consider the beauty of these codes. In the first, the picture of Jesus mending people, and as he turns they fall to their knees in prayer. In the second, the reference to Ruth leaving all that she knows to live in a foreign land and beginning to worship God, and as a result of turning toward God and her devotion to Naomi, finding the gratitude of Naomi and the favor and protection of Boaz. Though this is a very small collection of codes, they are memorable and powerful in message.
