Appearances in the Growing Ezekiel 40 Cluster What first caught our attention in Ezekiel 40 was the statistically significant number of occurrences of a Hebrew word for war in the chapter. In a tight search of the chapter, from verse 1 through verse 49, at the maximum skip of 759, the search software turned up 19 war ELSs against an expected 6.2. Such a dramatic statistical anomaly involving a word for war in the chapter struck us as odd, since the it is mostly Ezekiel’s vision of a tour of a temple given by a “man whose appearance was like bronze.”
After thinking it over, though, if the temple Ezekiel saw in his vision is the so-called third temple that some in Israel want to build on the original temple site, it would make sense that it would be linked to war. The Temple Mount is the most hotly contested piece of real estate in the worldthe site of the original temple, but also the current site of the Dome of the Rock, a Moslem holy site.
In fact, according to some reports, it was a visit to the Temple Mount by the new Israeli prime minister, Ariel Sharon, that sparked the most recent conflict between the Palestinians and Israelis. Announcement of construction of a new temple on the Temple Mount would be a declaration of war, as far as the Moslem world is concerned.
This may be a good place to reiterate that it often seems to us that we are feeling our way through a dark maze as we struggle to understand how Bible codes work. In this case, there seems to be a strong interplay between the surface text, mosaic statistical anomalies, long ELSs and their relationships with other clusters and the enigmatic messages of their interpretations.
Interestingly, many of the longest ELSs in this cluster, including the world record longest code, also touch down in the Ezekiel 37 cluster. To our minds, that shows a relationship between the terrorist acts of September 11 and war between Israel and the Moslem world.
Some of the terms that we focused on locating are Temple Mount, Third Temple, Armageddon, Iran, Iraq, Russia, N. Korea and Axis of Evil.
